What should the relatives know

What should the relatives of the patients know about Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia always produces some imbalance in the core of the family. Even only with a detailed information on the disease process, the symptoms it produces and the ways of their confronting (with the counsel of a professional), it is possible to diminish sufferings or unnecessary conflicts, and to re-establish a positive family dynamics.
What is the most adequate treatment?
The treatment of this disease should be individual in each case, and will depend on the presence of various symptoms, their severity as well as the consequences that they cause
Among the diverse measures that have demonstrated to be effective, there are the following:
• Deep knowledge of the disease and its physiopathologic mechanisms.
 • Regular physical exercises.
 • Some medicines (Amitriptilina, Ciclobenzaprina, Tramadol and others, to deal with different symptoms).
The anti-inflammatory medicines and sedatives are not very efficient.
• Electroacupunture in the painful parts.
• Confrontation strategies (behavioral and occupational).
Moreover, we should underline that the benefits of the treatment will depend not only on the illness severity, but also on the treatment rationality and its performance.
While there are forms of the disease that can be treated with simple measures and some medicines, the most severe causes need a multidisciplinary approach (medical, physical, psychological, and occupational).
Do any measures of prevention exist?
The approach of the known risk factors can be a way for the reduction of the frequency and the intensity of the illness symptoms. Among the measures to be kept in mind, there are the following:
 • Adequate and premature treatment of the post-traumatic pain, especially that of the medulla origin, and of osteoarticular inflammatory illnesses.
• The adequate treatment of the mood disorder.
• The premature detection and treatment of the sleeping disorder.
 • The treatment of the constant stress situations.

 • The application of the behavioral patterns based on the rhythm control as well as on the ergonomic management of the physical and/or mental loads.
